How to Start a ABBC Chapter of your own

All ABBC chapters should read books about Black stories from around the world

  1. Select at least two friends to join the book club.

  2. Each friend should recommend 1 friend to join.

  3. Set a number of members. Recommended not to exceed 12 members.

  4. Nominate one Chair who is responsible to send out communication and schedule meeting dates. Dates can be decided in advance or at the end of each meeting.

  5. Develop guidelines for the group. 

  6. Set up a group text with members.

  7. Meeting should take place every 4-6 weeks.

  8. Each member should recommend one book for the cycle. Recommended cycle should be 12 months.

  9. There should be rotating moderators. The book recommender shall be the moderator for that month.

  10. Moderators are responsible to run the meeting according to their preference. Meeting formats are not required to be the same.  

  11. Moderator should send questions to Chair in advance for disbursement.

  12.  Book clubs can be virtual or in-person.
